Follow this step-by-step guide to sign up and age your first deer! The guide begins with your very first visit to our website and provides screenshots of every step and screen you’ll encounter. In under 10 steps, you’ll have aged your first deer with Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision!
1. Create an account: Click “My account” on the home page
This is the first screen you’ll see when you visit AgeMyDeer.com. Continue to scroll through the screen to read more about our services, or get started by clicking on “Account”.
2. Register your account: Enter e-mail address & password
Take a moment and register before you can access our proprietary age prediction technology! Registration is 100% free, and we give you 2 free credits for your hassle. Enter a valid email address, and click “Register”.
Check your inbox!
You’ll receive two credits — one email with an activation link, and another email to set a password. After clicking the link in the activation email, you’re brought back to the My Account page with a note saying the same. Head back to your inbox to set a password.
3. Head back to the Home page — your free credits have arrived!
After setting a password, you’ll be fully logged in and registered! Clicking on “Home” will bring you back to the main page. Note: You may need to refresh the page to see your 2 free credits! We’re working on getting this discrepancy resolved. With your credits in hand, click “Age My Deer!”
4. Choose image type: Trail Camera –or– Jawbone
Choose the type of image you want to use in your age predicition. You can choose from colored trail camera images or jawbone images!
5. Upload image: Drag & Drop!
Once you’ve selected an option. it’s time to upload your image! You can drag and drop your PNG or JPG image, or you can click “Choose Image File” to use the explorer. Please note, your images are NOT stored on AgeMyDeer — we do not collect, keep, distribute, retain, or hoard your images after you upload them! In fact, they are never saved in our database.
6. Crop your image
Once uploaded, your image will pop up on the webpage. Follow the diagram above, and crop your image as close to the deer as possible! If the full deer does not fit inside the crop window, that’s okay — start at the snout and fit as much of the body as possible! Drag and resize the cropping window to select all the data in your image you want to analyze.
For trail camera images, the crop window is square — we suggest fitting as much as the deer inside the crop window as possible!
For jawbone images, the crop window is rectangular — we suggest fitting all teeth within the crop window to get an accurate age estimate.
Once you’ve sized and placed your crop window, click on “AI Analysis”! Each age prediction request costs 1 credit regardless of the image type (ex. trail camera or jawbone).
8. Wait on your dataset to process!
Our proprietary age prediction models are complex, and they take time to run! We are processing your data as fast as we can, and we are constantly trying to optimize our model’s efficiency. Please be patient, but your results are often returned in less than 30 seconds!
9. View / save your result
Although there is no way to export the results, they will not disappear until you refresh the page, upload another image, or close the results! There is no time out for this page — feel free to take your time and record the age wherever you’d like!
9. Your credits are updated
After the AI model has successfully processed your image, one credit is deducted from your account, and the updated balance is shown in the menu at the top. After one image submission, you have one credit left — time to head to the Shop for more credits!
